Amazon Fresh to open in renovated Montgomery County mall, Documents Show – NBC10 Philadelphia
A new Amazon Fresh grocery store is planned for the Willow Grove Mall, according to state filings, as part of a multimillion-dollar overhaul underway at the Montgomery County retail complex, Old nearly 70 years old, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Filings show that Amazon Retail LLC applied for a Pennsylvania liquor license to use at 102 Park Ave., the address of a closed Barnes & Noble bookstore. In marketing materials posted on its website, Federal Realty Investment Trust says an ongoing renovation of the 183,000-square-foot mall will include an unnamed “new-to-market grocery store concept.”
Amazon Fresh stores are considered a cheaper alternative to the company’s Whole Foods Market.
Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) has opened its first Amazon Fresh store in the Philadelphia area in August 2021 in a 35,000 square foot space at the Creekview Center in Warrington. He plans to open another store in Bucks County in a former Kmart at the Brookwood Mall on Street Road in Bensalem, in addition to a location along Route 1 in Langhorne near the Oxford Valley Mall. Construction is also continuing on a planned site at a mixed-use project at 5th and Spring Garden streets in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia.
