Burke’s Outlet officially opened in Altavista last week in the Town and Country Mall at 1301 Main Street.
A ribbon cut was organized for the new store on November 18 by the Altavista Region Chamber of Commerce and Altavista On Track (AOT). Burke’s Outlet now occupies the large retail space formerly occupied by Peebles in the mall.
“This fills a much needed gap in the Altavista retail community,” Grace Mattox, executive director of the Chamber, said at the ceremony.
Burke’s Outlet offers discounted designer clothing, home items and more. At the official opening last week, the store gave away several freebies, including a $ 100 gift card draw, a gift card scavenger hunt and a prize wheel. Dozens of people flocked to the store last Thursday.
“Next weekend is our Altavista boutique event, so hopefully this gives you another reason to stay in Altavista and watch our merchants before you spend your money outside of the community,” Mattox said. “It helps build your community when your money stays in town. “
Debbie Funderburk, District Manager for Altavista Burke’s Outlet, said the company is proud of its new offering for the Altavista region. She pointed out that after the previous occupant left Burke’s Outlet’s new location, Altavista consumers likely should have traveled to Lynchburg to find similar discounted designer clothing and household items.
“Thank you for your support, and we’re here forever guys,” Funderburk said. “We’re not going anywhere. We open stores, we don’t close stores. So thank you for coming. We appreciate you.
Funderburk also thanked Emily Hawkins, the store manager. Hawkins, for her part, said she was happy to be in Altavista.
“It’s like home for me,” Hawkins said. “It’s the most beautiful community. I really love him so much here. Thank you for the warm welcome. Not only for me and my team, but for our store.
Burke’s Outlet is owned by Beall’s Inc., based in Bradenton, Florida. Beall’s operates more than 600 stores nationwide, including Beall’s Outlet and Burke’s Outlet.
The grand opening of the Altavista location falls amid a wave of openings in several states for the chain.
