Cambridge Police are investigating after a 47-year-old man said he was physically and sexually assaulted on Wednesday morning near the Porter Exchange shopping centre.

Police said the woman told investigators she was walking down Roseland Street to Massachusetts Avenue around 8:40 a.m. when she felt someone approach her quickly.

“After attempting to pull away, the suspect allegedly pulled up her skirt and aggressively patted her buttocks,” police said in a statement. “When she turned to confront the suspect, he fled.”

The alleged assault happened at 1815 Massachusetts Ave.

The woman was unable to provide a description of the suspect, police said.

The incident is still under investigation and police are asking anyone with information or potential evidence to contact the department. Police said the department would pay “increased attention” to the area in the meantime.

“If any residents, businesses, or people traveling or visiting the area have video or information, especially around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, please call 617-349-3300,” police said.

On Thursday afternoon, the department released surveillance video showing the suspect running away after the alleged assault.
