Cops foil brazen mall robbery, 4 suspects arrested: PCPD

PORT CHESTER, NY – Excitement at a Westchester mall ended safely, thanks to Port Chester police who were on the case before a crime was reported.

At around 3pm on Wednesday afternoon, Port Chester Police were notified by the Real Time Crime Center that a wanted criminal vehicle had entered their jurisdiction.

The car was involved in a series of brazen thefts from ULTA stores in the tri-state area. Officers were in the Kohl’s Mall area when the vehicle was spotted in the store’s parking lot.

Officers Arroyo and Santorelli quickly jammed into the vehicle with the driver inside.

While this was happening, police said, three other men exited ULTA with large laundry bags. They fled in opposite directions when they saw the cops surrounding their getaway car, police said.

Arroyo nabbed a suspect after a foot chase. He was assisted by the Rye Police Department.

While this was happening, Captain Nielsen was reported by passers-by that two of the suspects had encountered Buy Buy Baby in the mall. With the assistance of Constable Coyt and Rye Police, the two remaining suspects were quickly tracked down and taken into custody.

Danyielle Downs, 19, Noah Kutt, 20, Lanijah McCoy, 27, and Jalik Lee, 20 have all been arrested and are charged with the crime of grand larceny, based on the amount of stolen goods exceeding 17,000 $.

Police said they later learned the suspects entered Ulta, emptied the shelves of perfumes, placed them in laundry bags and fled the store, just before meeting with officers.

Downs and Kutt are homeless, McCoy gave an address in Brooklyn, and Lee had an address in Newark, NJ, officials say.

“We would like to thank our neighboring departments for their assistance, as well as Westchester County Aviation and the Real Time Crime Center,” the Port Chester Police Department said in a statement released late Wednesday. “The PCPD will continue to work diligently to deter this behavior and make our village safe.”
