Online shopping services in Afghanistan closed due to economic crisis

Almost all major online shopping services in Afghanistan have shut down due to the financial crisis since August 2021.

A sudden collapse of the Afghan administration last year and the absence of legitimate governing power in the country have led it into total crisis.

Recently, two major online shopping services announced that they had to shut down their services due to the economic crisis and financial problems in Afghanistan.

Click.afa well-known online shopping app with a successful 6-year marketing history announced its closure on Saturday night.

A message posted on Click.afThe Facebook page of reported that they are no longer able to continue their activities due to financial problems.

“The precarious economic situation, capital flight and economic cycle freeze have severely affected market sales, and Click.af is no exception,” the app’s operators said in a Facebook note.

The owner of Click on online store, Masih Stanekzai, told Khaama Press that he was not yet ready to express his feelings.

“I’m not interested in giving a negative feeling about it,” he said.

“I hope the future will be better in the years to come so businesses like Click.af can restart, thrive and become a success!” he said.

One day later, Baqalanother online shopping service with 3 years experience has announced its closure due to financial difficulties.

A message posted on from Baqal The Facebook page says it was a mid-sized investment that ultimately collapsed when citizens refused purchasing power and the local bank froze people’s funds in bank accounts due restrictions applied by the Taliban to the banking sector.

E-shopping services in Afghanistan had facilitated and improved communications between customers and traders.

With the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban, the country’s already precarious economic situation was disrupted, leading to the closure of many online businesses.

It comes like some other big online companies, including an online taxi service called ‘Boubar‘, The best supermarkets online shopping portal and Hindukosh online shopping site were shut down months after the collapse of the administration of the Afghan republic.
