Pinterest will become the mall of the internet as Google eCommerce Executive takes over

Recently, Pinterest CEO Ben Silbermann announced that he was stepping down and being replaced by Bill Ready. Ready spent years leading commerce, payments and the next billion users at Google.

However, Silbermann will not leave the company, but will serve as the platform’s executive chairman. Silbermann also told the Wall Street Journal that Ready would be a better CEO than him.

Even though Google Shopping hasn’t taken over the world, it has already had an impact. For one, commerce has become a huge part of YouTube’s future, and Google has revamped how Shopping works. Additionally, the company has reinvested in its payment systems.

Now, Ready seems to have big business plans for the platform. On a LinkedIn post, he said, “In the next phase of our journey, we’ll help people engage more deeply with all the inspiring products and services they find on our platform so they can build their best life.”

He also mentioned how clear it is that Pinterest has the opportunity to create something unique and special in the future.
