Family-owned Gilbertie’s Organics, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, has named Easton resident Cimi Carreño general manager of its agricultural operations as the company positions itself for its second century, according to a press release.
“She’s leading us into our next century,” said Sal Gilbertie, owner, president and CEO of Gilbertie’s Organics, who has led the company for more than six decades.
Carreño oversees the day-to-day operations of the Gilbertia Greenhouse, the source of Gilbertia’s potted herbs and vegetable plants for garden centers and its iconic line of soil-grown microgreens carried to grocery stores and restaurants in four states of the New England. Originally from Argentina, Carreño is excited to join a generational company with a rich history.
“Sal knows what he’s doing,” Carreño said. “He has a huge amount of knowledge and experience, all stored in him. I listen to it and document it, then organize it a bit.
